Blogorrhea…Companyorrhea…Featureorreah…Where Will The Madness End?

From News.com: Trying to cure blogorrhea

Dan Farber is certainly trying to shake some things up over at CNet, and has had quite a few interesting battles already both in print and on air (check out The Gang XX where he goes at it with Arrington) as he attempts to right the ship.  Dan’s not wasting any time, either, trying to quell the coming unrest in the blogosphere discussing such existential questions like “blogger or journalist” and “how to stop blogorrhea.”

It wasn’t that long ago that we were extolling the virtues of original thought, and suggesting that we had reached our own “Planet of the Apes” moment in technology.  Seems to be that Farber is trying to apply the same thinking to the myriad of blogs out there that add no value to the body of work that is the blogosphere.  I can’t say that w, your humble RealityCrunch authors, are to be included in the list of those who are adding value, but we do believe that we have moved beyond Narcissism 2.0, where everyone felt the need to share everything about themselves, no matter how banal, with anyone willing to consume it, and that we are now entering the “Me Too” era.  I can’t wait for the twitter post that says “I’m going poop” and the endless stream of “@<user>Me too!!  w00t!” replies.

I’m sorry to say that despite my hopes that I was being original with my thinking here, this topic has been covered in such places as the Evil Empire, long, long ago.

[…] how there is no original thought in the blogosphere.  Even we’ve posted on the topic, so clearly it’s important.  We’ve given a bit more thought to the topic […]
