Good Intentions For Non-Existent Niches

From Techcrunch: Create a niche, win a prize!

LA based startup Intent is striving to “…fill a niche between lifestyle sites and medical properties - a destination for wellness content, a syndication platform, and a branded hub for people seeking to share their intentions (personal, social, spiritual and environmental).”

Wait, did I read that right… “a branded hub for people seeking to share their intentions”. Wow.

Ok, first things first. Is there really a gaping void between lifestyle sites and medical properties?

I suppose there is a niche to fill there, just like there’s also one between organic gardening sites and sites featuring two women doing unspeakable things with fecal matter in drinking containers. Honestly, I fail to see the lifestyle/medical connection. If I need medical advice I’ll google for “butt rash”, if I want some good lifestyle advice from pop icons, I’ll talk to myself in the mirror.

Secondly, this is also a site to share your intentions. What? I intend to check this site out when it has more than a “subscribe” field on its homepage, wait, scratch that, never mind. I don’t care what anyone else “intends” to do. Do you? I intend to save the world by converting my flatulence into re-usable fuel to power flying tricycles.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and intent.com may provide a quick shortcut, or well, they intend to.

Is it fair to say you “intend” to not check the site out?
